Ask any Marine who the “Gunny” was and they will almost certainly reply with Lee Ermey.  The icon made famous by Full Metal Jacket who epitomized the Marine ethos of first to fight, passed away Sunday at the age of 74.  In honor of the man who motivated so many of us grunts I wanted to put up a tough workout but due to Beauforts restrictive ordinances i could not string up barbed wire to crawl under through the mud while i lay down a steady stream of gunfire inches above your heads.  Instead we met at the courthouse and made our way down Turner Street (that the town commissioners have thoroughly screwed up) for a quick warm up and stretch.  Beginning at the base of the new highrise on the closed side we began.

Starting a circuit to the first joint and back where we did 20 4ct hand release merkins

Then to the second joint and back to do 20 4ct goodbye dollys

Then to the third joint and back for 20 dive bombers

Finally to the top of the bridge to do 20 4ct box cutters

At the top we did a count of zero and went back down in the same fashion

First joint and back with 20 diamond merkins

Second joint and back to 20 4ct Rocky sit ups

Third joint and back to do 20 wide grip merkins

Finally to the base of the bridge to 20 4ct flutter kicks

On the way back facing east watching the sunrise there was an Indian Run until we turned south for home.

Thanks for the good push guys, I know that workout had a lot of running but we are always doing something different and that’s the best part of this.
