6 men gathered on the Beaufort waterfront to workout boot camp style. About the time the last Pax rolled in, the Big Rockers started rolling out.  YHC regrets not arriving a few minutes earlier and taking an inventory of the number of fishing boats tied up at Beaufort Docks.  YHC guesses maybe a dozen or so left to fish but you could hardly tell that based on the number of boats that didn’t move. It looked like the marina was still full.  I digress.  On to the workout.

With nothing but veteran F3 guys posting, (I apologize once more, Life Alert for calling you Live Wire more than once. It was nice to meet you!), the one minute warning was issued and pretty much ignored as the grandeur of the fishing boats seemed to steal the attention of the Pax.  The Mission Statement was delivered flawlessly (again, pretty much ignored) Disclaimer was skipped and we immediately knocked out 5 Burpees OYO.

Warm-A-Rama

Left over Right and vice versa for a 30 count each.  Tricep stretches, downward facing dog transitioning to baby cobra (YHC thought this was known as updog but was quickly corrected by Bunyon. YHC needs all the help he can get when it comes to Yoga poses).  Next, YHC issued a strange request to the Pax in asking them to try to remember the next 5 Warm-A-Rama exercises and in the order performed.  They would understand my request shortly.  Each exercise was 7 reps.  They were:

SSH (I/C)

Standard Merkin

Squats

Plank Jacks

Lunges (7 each leg)

We then mosyed to the far west end of  Front Street and around the circle where we planked for the 6.  Off we hustled to the Beaufort Cutting Board for the Thang. It went like this:

YHC put 20 minutes on the clock.  The Pax were instructed to perform the above 5 exercises with the number of reps as follows:

SSH 50.   Merkin 15. Squats 15.  Plank Jacks 10.  Lunges, 7 each leg.  This would be 20 minutes of solid motion, taking a break OYO as needed.  When the clock struck zero, we were in the middle of the last round and this being F3 there was no way YHC would call time until that last set was finished. The final time was 21 minutes and it’s believed, but not certain we completed 8 sets.  Along the way YHC Omaha’d and changed one set of SSH to Mountain Climbers and two sets of Merkins were done diamond grip for 7 reps followed by Wide Merkin with 8 reps.

Next up was the infamous Burpee Countdown.  We started with 6 burpees in the middle of Front St. followed by a sprint to the nearest crosswalk, approximately 50 yards away.  Upon arrival, 5 Burpees. Run to the starting point for 4 Burpees, etc. until we finished it off with one final Burpee.

Running right on time, we moseyed back to the parking lot for some brief core work.  On our 6, each Pax called for a 15 second or so core exercise.  It was 6:15 and we did a quick name a rama and prayer requests.  Blart and his M were mentioned along with an acquaintance of Constanza as well as Boss Tweed’s daughter who is traveling in China. Liver Mush took us out in a heart felt prayer.

It was a warm and muggy morning in Carterico. Still, watching the boats pull away and the beauty of Taylor’s Creek allowed us to forget about the heat and humidity.  Strong work today men.  I realize that doing the same 5 exercises for over 20 minutes may have gotten a little boring but the mumble chatter made the time go by quickly.

It was a pleasure to lead.
