After watching the ball drop on TV last night YHC was not looking forward to the cold he would be enduring in the gloom.  My motivation was the pax.  If they were going to make an effort to beat the fartsack and post in this menacing cold I would not let them down and I would be their Q.  I pulled in this morning to see 2 of the 3 I would be leading.  With at least the usual suspect count at the Knarr I was glad I made the effort to help out my fellow man.  I started the workout with a conglomeration of motivational speeches that I have recorded on my phone.  Unfortunately it was so cold we moved to get out of the wind and missed part of the inspirations.  To no avail, the pax listened to two of the best speeches from Herb Brooks the Coach of the 1980 USA hockey team that played the Russians in the gold round of the Olympics and then Billie Bob Thornton as the coach in Friday Night Lights.  If you want inspiration to show up and workout, listen to either one of these and you will be everything you can be.

Rinse and repeat complete set of exercises after another mosey around the building.  Once we started round 2 YHC told the pax that we would Omaha the erkins and derkins with nowhere to do them out of the wind.  Well maybe we won’t do them yet.  After completing round 2, YHC took the pax on a different route for the Mosey and some how managed to end up at the Pavilion so we could get the Erkins and Derkins in before retiring to the back of the building for some MARY.   YHC wanted it to be a pax led MARY to keep everyone involved so Ron B started it off with 4 minutes of Protractor.  I will say man oh man can he burn up the abs with this exercise.  Next Buckeye led us in American Hammers, Pasqually had Low slow flutters and YHC finished it off with Boss Tweeds.  Amazing men to make that first leap at the New Year in the right way.  My pleasure to lead.

Blart out    SYITG

Something that has stuck with me after this first year of my journey in F3, is not to stir up controversy but in order to become a better man I throw this out there.  One of my observations at workouts is that some pax stick to the same pax that they always workout with, not saying this is a bad thing but, in order to keep this F3 thing growing and enjoyable to all that show, we should cross that aisle and look for the FNG or someone who you see but don’t really know and stick with them during a workout.  If not to help encourage the new guy but to push the second F during workouts.  I experienced this at one of my first workouts with the Q saying partner up with someone you don’t know and find out their real name and something about them you do not know.  Pasqually was my partner because he sought me out, I only knew 2 pax at that point and he encouraged me and pushed me further then I had thought I could do.  You never know when doing just that little thing during a workout could change that persons outlook on this thing we all enjoy called F3.  Let us all try harder this year and, what do I always hear from certain guys “Step out of your comfort zone!!!!!!!” and make a new acquaintance and learn about them, not just a fist bump and see ya next time.
