YHC woke up earlier than expected in excitement and anticipation of his VQ at the Field of Dreams.  A brief trip down highway 24 was the only thing between him and the AO that he has only posted at once since it’s birth into Carterico.  As I slowly made my way to the parking lot, I noticed 2 vehicles already there with passengers still waiting inside to grab one more minute of warm air before climbing out into the windy conditions of Western Park.  As one flag was planted, others began rolling in as warnings of 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 were given.  Flawless mission statement, along with disclaimer were recited, one FNG pointed out and we were off with a short mosey back through the parking lot for:

Warmarama

Cotton Pickers IC

Sun Gods (Forward and Reverse) IC

SSH IC

Hillbillies IC

Left over Right & Right over Left for 10 count each

Short mosey back to large soccer field for what was to be beginning of:

The Thang

YHC had arrived a little early to place four cones in a diamond shape on the field and placed a deck of cards by the first cone.   Selected PAX members would draw a card from the pile and the number represented on the card would equal the number of reps to be performed at each cone.  No 2’s, 3’s, or 4’s were present in the deck and the deck had been shuffled the night before by one’s father visiting for the weekend, but some would say they were not shuffled enough.  the breakdown of what each suit was something like this:

Heart = Carolina Dry Docks, Diamonds = Boss Tweeds, Clubs = LBC’s, and Spades = Plank Jacks

We did a great number of CDD’s to start off with, probably resulting in somewhere around 100 before the day ended.  6 rounds were completed before heading over to the picnic area for the next series of exercises which consisted of:

Dips, urkins, and prisoner squats (3 rounds)

Short mosey to the lacrosse field for Lt. Dan;s form sideline to sideline.  This was implemented as a chance to catch our breath and bring our heart rate down a little before returning to the soccer field for 2 more rounds of the cards.

Lastly, we made our way to the tennis courts and partnered up for some sprints.  Partner A would run two courts over and back twice while partner B would perform an exercise and then switch.  3 different exercises were performed by each PAX member.

Merkins, WWI’s, and LBC’s

With time being close to a hard stop, we quickly returned to the flags for

Mary

LSF’s

American Hammer

LBC’s

X’s and O’s

Namarama was performed and we welcomed in OJ to our family. Announcements and prayer requests were made (Lunchbox’s family, Couch Potato’s wife for safe travel).  I challenged the group to think about the past weekend and the pain that Christ endured up on the cross and look at themselves each day and ask “How painful is your cross?” Laettner took us out in prayer.

Gentlemen, it was an honor to lead this morning and I look forward to the next time we are all together in the gloom.  Until then…..
