BABY BUDS

The Pax or in this case, the Recruits were on time for the Ding batter, Cooter was even 2 minutes early for a Mini Buds workout. BUDS is the selection phase for SEAL recruits. All exercises were based on actual SEAL workouts. Proper back posture was emphasized while doing log training. Logs consisted of six-foot land-scape round posts. A modified post painted PurpleRain was a skinny four-footer but he fart-sacked his way through Saturday and into Sunday church service.

Phase I: Warm-up focused on the back with Yoga poses of Plank, Down Dog, Up Dog, and Cobra, were followed by Dive Bomb Merkins, Torso Twists, Wind Mills, 2x Wind Mills, Side Straddle Hops and 2x Half-Side Straddle Hops

Phase II (consistent with BUDs), the Recruits were taught proper lifting technique, got in pairs and toted two logs to the beach for Dead Lifts Overhead Press and Curls followed by Crunches and Log Presses shifting Left to Right overhead in the surf. The Recuits made a recruit mistake by demonstrating improper log control, a condition common to sub-forty-year-olds. Cooter received a Purple Heart for his miniscule cut foot which he whimpered about for the rest of the work out. Someone said he shed man tears but I cannot confirm at this time. We did a 10 Count Hold Overhead Press then a Walk and Press. Logs were placed one yd. apart, parallel and recruits were led on a back and forth team run consisting of Step Overs, Cha-Cha-Cha, Carioca, Side Shuffle, and Sprints. Back to the water where we did daisy chain crunches while getting pounded by the surf.  Using the logs on the beach we Noodled for Catfish then Punch-Up Merkins. The recruits enjoyed the Ocean Dip but the shower took too long when Bed Pan started talking to a female dog walker and everyone watched. Actually they gawked, some posed. This resulted in a slow jog/walk back to the flag in pairs. Weinstein was so enamored, he left his shirt on the beach but the dog walker was notably impressed.

Phase III: All recruits passed all 3 phases of Baby Buds entitling them to the title and benefits bestowed of “Baby SEALs.” Circle of Trust concluded the workout and initiated a Coffee-teria with four Pax.
