As the New Years Day festivities began to draw to a swift close yesterday and my mind turned back to the reality about to slap me in the face I suddenly realized the other reality I almost forgot…I’m Qing the QAR tomorrow…OK, here we go! Checking the weather forecast and trying to think about how I would manage through 17 degrees with a 10-15 mph north wind the only thing I could really come up with was to keep the PAX on the move so that is what we did!
When I rolled into the Rotary Parking lot the area was still and quite beyond normal, Buckeye and Monkey Wrench remained huddled in their trucks to the last possible minute and Ronnie was off running around the soccer field trying to stay remotely warm. Knowing that the best medicine for a morning like this is to embrace the suck, jump in feet first, and give it all you can we strolled to the Basketball Courts for a Warmarama as follows:
10 Windmills
12 Cotton Pickers
14 Hill Billys
10 ct Lung Hold (both sides)
Right Over Left 10 ct.
Left Over Right 10 ct.
Warmed and stretched it was time for the main event. YHC decided to pull out an oldie but goodie…THE SEABISCUIT.
IT went down like this…
The PAX will run a lap around the two soccer fields closest to the fence line, circling the Tree of Life and back down in front of the parking lot returning to the lot between the fields and the Basketball Courts. (About a 1/2 mile loop) Sweeping the six each time around.
Once back we completed the following:
10 – Merkins
20 – Plankjacks
30 – LBC’s
Round two would add another lap and complete the same exercises…we progressed to three laps with the same set of exercises and began to ladder back down from there with two laps and finally 1 ending huddled behind YHC’s truck trying to find shelter from the wind!
Mary:
American Hammer – 15
Low Slow Flutter- 20
Protractor – Offered up by Monkey Wrench
Announcements: Heck all we wanted to do was get the heck out of there…too darned cold to chitchat!
YHC took the Pax out in Prayer and we made our way in record time off the AO!
It was my honor as always to lead, and I can say without a doubt that I benefited from taking that first step out of bed this morning, regardless of how cold it actually was! T-Claps to everyone who made the effort at all our AO’s this morning!
