YHC has told a few white lies in his time and today was no different. YHC promised dash8, who should really be on IR because he has a boo boo on his big toe, that we would just be doing old guy stuff. It kind of snowballed from there and I think YHC sort of fibbed to Wilson and Blart as well. Its just that YHC likes those guys so much I really wanted them to post. Couchpotato knew YHC lied but showed up anyway cause he’s from Jersey and he ain’t scared of anyone.

Anyway, after fistbumps, countdown, the mission statement and an early cooter joke we were off for a rolling warm a rama. We headed east up the Western Park entrance road doing butt kickers, high knees, carioca, toy soldiers and cheech slap fights on the way. We stopped at the entrance for a round of seal jacks IC just to watch dash 8 get confused.

We continued our mosey to the first parking lot for some imperial scott walker squats until the other end. Mosey to lot #2 and then Lt Dans to the end. We finished our warm up back where we started for THANG 1…The merkin mile.

Pax were told to start with 10 merkins and then mosey the .1 mile back to the entrance. 10 merkins and return. Even YHC could do the math on this one so we completed ten rounds. 1 mile/100 merkins.

Even though blart said he knew of better ways to spend 20 minutes, dumpsterdawg was wishing he had gone duck hunting instead (we could hear the boys on the White Oak giving the bluebills hell) and Wilson accused YHC of lying to entice him West, YHC believes everyone enjoyed our little stroll.

Next we moved South to the pavilion for THANG 2. Along the way YHC and blart were talking about beer and we decided to stop at the playground for a six pack. Just like sevens except its sixes…get it? Oh, and its pull ups and merkins instead of IPAs and lagers. Blart, once again, was not happy with my obfuscation.

After that short stop we arrived at the pavilion and the PAX were split up 4 or so to a picnic table. Pax were instructed to bring the tables out onto the field where we proceeded to  complete a round of deadlifts, curls and overhead presses x 15 with the tables. We then brought them to shoulder height and left faced so we could mosey the length of the field with dash8 calling cadence.

At the other end we completed another round of deadlifts, curls and overhead presses  x15 and added in dips x10 in cadence just for laughs.

We then moved the tables in line and did three rounds of up and overs before heading back and placing the tables in the pavilion.

Buttoncap, birdman and jwow were looking bored and YHC clearly had not made an impact on sparkles and couch potato either. I also hadn’t touched cooter…I swear it.  So we moseyed to the baseball field for THANG 3. To make sure the studs got something out of this old man workout, YHC decided we would get in groups of 3. P1 would chillicut plank while P2 did derkins AMRAP with feet on P1s back. P3 would run the bases then tag P1 and rotate. Continue until everyone had completed the circuit. At the end, cooter still looked and smelled fresh so we did another round switching to LBCs.

We had a minute or so to spare before it was time to head back for mary so we stopped at the bleachers for some derkin reverse stairway to heaven. 5 derkins with feet on bench, move feet to next higher bench 5 derkins, back to lower bench 5 derkins.  Then back to the flag for mary.

YHC started with combo LBC flutterkicks IC x15. Dash8 gave us American Hammers (Russian twists for birdman the commie), frickin jwow called for 10 burpees OYO (really jwow, burpees for mary? You’re killin me), wilson did boxcutters IC, Double D called for birdman crunches (birdman warned us to do them right cause he was watching), buttoncap made us do some evil toe touchy things that really sucked and Couchpotato finished us off with, what else, supermans.

According to dash8’s fancy watch, we got in 3.98 miles. Not sure I beieve that but even if he’s off by a third we still did pretty well for an old guy workout.

Name o rama, announcments (maytag on the green mile, dash8 see below*), prayer requests (purple rains’s foot, Navy’s father in law, Dumpsterdawg’s aunt) complete, blart told everyone to touch cooter (because cooter agreed to take us out in prayer). He led with hearfelt and compassionate words and humble thanks for the blessings bestowed on our group.

Many of the Pax convened for coffee hour at javapost thereafter.

*Dash8 took a few minutes during announcments to share something really cool. He had just passed the 40th anniversary of his graduation from Marine Corps boot camp. He showed us all his 300 PFT certificate prooving that he was once a really, really fast mofo (sub 15min/3mile). Best of all, like the rest of us, he was happy to be a part of F3 and still running pretty dad gum fast even at his advanced age.

Today was a blessing. It was great to spend the morning with friends, especially those that made the trip from the East (always a treat Wilson and Blart!) I came home sore, but mentally charged up for the day.

Thank you luncbox for letting me lead and thank you friends for coming out and spending time with one another.

Navy, out.
