I’ve asked myself so often, why do I F3. I think the reason is because I need someone to truly believe that there is greater in me than I “feel” most of the time, and to remind me of that as often as possible. And ultimately, for me to do the same to other men. This life is pointless without the Lord. Period. God deserves my absolute best, as does my wife, family, church and this community. I post for me. I post for my wife and family. And I post for you. With the team God has surrounded me with- I feel as though all things are possible!
A novel could be written about this last year of my life, since I first stepped into the gloom and joined the PAX of F3 Carterico. The weather this morning, mirrored that of a year ago at the MHC Country Club, hanging out with Doublemint and the Tinkerbellers, trying to stay warm in my UNC hoodie and toboggan. Made it easy for the fellas to give me the name “Laettner.” Thrilled isn’t the best description I had of my new nicname. But I was determined not to let it keep me from giving this thing a shot. I was here for myself, my wife, my family, and this community. Sucky name or not, YHC was here to stay.
Just like every man that’s a part of F3, shoutouts could be given to the entire PAX. I remember out of all the men, Suitcase and I were partnered up a whole lot those first couple of months, and I learned a lot from his faithfulness and desire to get better.
Moving down 24 on May 5th worked out pretty timely with the launch of Cape Carteret Expansion happening on May 6th. I remember Duckbutter and Jang telling me that I was gonna play a roll in launching it. I have been blown away at what all has happened down our way. 5 workouts a week. Guys getting healthy in their relationship with God, their spouse and kids, as well as their body. And doing what they can to keep giving it away. Lunchbox is my closest friend in Carterico, and even though he doesn’t believe it, is one of the strongest men I know for so many reasons. Purple Rain, Buttoncap, Griswold and Maytag were leaders before there were really much of a PAX to lead and have taught me so much. All are amazing dads and are killing it. The one guy that has been probably the coolest getting to know is Couch Potato. No one can EH like him, which says a lot about him, and his heart for others that is so genuine, even those he just met. Snookie wont run the green mile, but he sure ran with his wife and family through her health battle. Pillbox has leant me crutches times that I wish to say!
Along the way, Pasqually, Ronny B and Blart have frequented the CC side which means more than ya’ll know. It is an honor on days when YHC gets to make it to Morehead of Beaufort to workout and learn from you guys. It feels like a homecoming every time… without the friend chicken. I’ve posted at every AO in Carterico and hope to keep mixing it up so to get to know you guys better, so you can give a little and I can do the same. As ole Duck says… it never gets easier- you only get stronger.
8 PAX gathered at The Rolling Stone for YHC’s one year anniversary. Snookie brought his big ole tires for some fun. After warmarama- Sun Gods, Windmills, Hillbillies, Good Mornings and some moseying, it was time to partner up at the tires. YHC’s Ruck was used as well.
Dora with 100 Burpees, 200 Step Ups on the Tire, 300 Low Slow Flutters over the tire. Partner A carried Tire while B completed Burpees and switch. Then partners ran to the fence for the last two legs. This burned more than YHC expected!
There were some Double Taps (Alternating Shoulder Tap with Merkin) completed from 10-1 moseying in between every few sets along with Air Press with the same count, courtesy of a modification at the GoRuck Tough and Cadre JDub. Howling Monkeys were done for a time longer than desired by all.
2 Team Race having to get their 2 tires to the fence and back flipping. This is pretty cool. The team with 5 beat the team with 4. Don’t know why…
Griswold help YHC on track with his watch and when some Mary was completed, it was Hard Stop time. Announcements shared and prayer requests given. Continue to lift up Mrs. Page as she fights for her life at Vidant. A friend of mine battling cancer and so many others. YHC got to lead in prayer and then it was off for another day of impacting others!
I F3 because I need it. I need that time to get my mind and heart right before I face who knows what as the day progresses. I need F3 because I am better when I leave. I might not be able to lift my arms or bend my legs very much, but it is worth it. No matter the weather. You need it too. What are you waiting for? (Just be careful of the clothes ya wear on the first day!)
