On 9/1 as YHC was on the way to the standard, I was surprised that there was no rain. A few hours before according to the forecast it was suppose to be raining cats and dogs. I arrived on location put the flag out and was not yet joined by any pax, so it was a lonely stroll up and down the bridge. I was in sad clown mode running solo, My mind was elsewhere thinking about the glorious sight from the top of the mountains YHC is planning on seeing in less than a week! Having logged a couple of miles it was time to meet up with the rest of the pax for hard start.
Ten other pax joined, with some faces that have not attended in a while (jang-a-lang). As Misty and Deebo came rolling in on foot as they choose to hoof it from their respective houses and time was ticking closer to go time, the mumble chatter was high with the whereabouts of Steamer. Having explained the course and given the directed all to ready their respective wrist tracking and timing devices, and warning all pax not to try and keep up with Deebo and Misty I led the charge towards Mount Morehead (the bridge). I was leading the pax with a steady pace and could hear Jang-a-lang hanging tough and breathing heavy but still being able to bring the mumble chatter to the ruckers on the other side of the bridge. Of couse I missed the turnaround point, overshooting it, but no worries, Misty took mercy on me, calling me back to the cut thru. Back up the mountain we went, this is where jang-a-lang did not heed my advice trying to keep up with the two stallions Misty & Deebo as they do what they do, run faster! All pax were strong as we overtook the ruckers with Laettner leading them thinking he was doing the stampede not rucking as he pulled his pax across the bridge! We made our way down the causeway around the circle and back to the where we started, some pax continued for another trip over the bridge, some had reached their goal of the day! All pax rejoined in the public lot with an excellent performance by all.
