In the predawn gloom the Pax gathered at Floyds 1921 to stretch their legs to warm up for the Twin Bridges race starting in mere hours. With the mission statement/ disclaimer given and watches/gps devices set we were ready to conquer. It was a unanimous decision that we would mosey with purpose for a 5K. The pax was looking to rest and conserve for the big race.
We began going down 4th street, turning west heading down the waterfront. Enjoying the scenery of Seafood Festival booths set up waiting for vendors to occupy them. As we approached Southern Salt YHC noticed a TV camera doing a live broadcast as we pranced by trying to suck it in and stand up tall for our 2 second cameo on live tv. At Big Rock Landing we took a left continuing to head west down Shepard Street. Greeting the Seafood Festival security as we passed them. Around Shevans Park we realized that our pace was a sub 8 minute mile, faster than we planned, but comfortable to all except Flip who was cracking the whip on Steamer to slow down. Damn those Therapist orders! We continued all the way down until reaching the bridge and returned, tracing our path back to the starting point. There was a brief race of pax against golf cart as we reentered the festival zone. On our return, passing Big Rock Landing Lassie greeted the pax as he was helping set up a booth. Then Nippleshot was spotted driving a golf cart and greeted. The observation was made that all Festival volunteers had red solo cups attached to their hands, what was in them I wonder?
Upon completion, all pax put in 3 miles. Announcements- Twin bridges race and gordy lee
Prayer Concerns- Bunyon has a friend that is under going surgery in Wilmington.
Always an honor to lead.
