Driving down 20th St to the AO, I kept thinking this is going to suck in the poring rain, but not really. The least I can do is workout with my brothers for 45 minutes in the rain when so many are having to deal with matters that suck much worse than than a workout in the rain, Another of many reality checks we all have faced over the last 9 -10 days. As I planted the shovel flag, the showers stopped and it’s time to get it going.
We moseyed to the basketball court for Warmarama:
Side Straddle Hops x15 IC
Wind Mills x10 IC
Sun Gods Forward and Reverse
Cotton Pickers x 10 IC
Basic Stretching
Staying on the court with plenty of room with a PAX of 4 we partnered up:
Partner A ran to the far base line and back while Partner B did merkins x four rounds, next was LBC’s x four rounds, next was WW1’s x four rounds, and last was Plank Jacks x four rounds.
Next group were suicides: Starting at base line to foul line, mid court line, far foul line, and far base line we did: standard suicide, sise to side suicide, and last go backwards down and forwards back to the start.
Next we Lt Dan to the far base line and sprinted back x two rounds.
We moseyed to the parking lot next door for parking line merkins: run up to the curb, side step to the next line, back pedal to the end of teh line and do a merkin. repeat to the middle of the parking lot.
Enough sprinting for now, we moseyed to the shelter for three rounds of Dips, Erkins, Derkins, Step Ups with a short lap after each round. round 1 10 ea, round 2 15 ea, and round three 20 ea.
We moved over to the wall next door for peoples chair with ea PAX counting out 5 air presses, after completing 5 burpees, another round, three burpees, and after last round 1 burpee.
With a few minutes to spare, ea PAX led a exercise in Mary.
Monkey Wrench took us out in a great prayer.
With some time to reflect back on the previous week-10 days, it has started to sink in on what exactly happened to Carteret County and what impact we as F3 had on the lives we came in contact with, Going from house to house and being physically and mentally exhausted at the end of the day, it all ran together and only now are pieces starting to come back, It is truly amazing without a bit of hesitation on how quickly F3 Carterico rallied and was out across the entire county, even with damages to your own homes… I am 3rd. Seeing first hand the devastation that families are facing is truly a humbling experience. Seeing the faces of homeowners, and watching some break down and cry when a group of men show up to help move furniture, cut trees, rip out carpet, plus so much more will live with me forever. A lot of the community probably had never heard of F3 prior to Hurricane Flo, but I bet they know who we are now. F3 had us all ready to tackle what Flo left behind Physically, as a group, and spiritually. As I try to get back into my normal routines (if there is such a thing), my personal struggle is the balance of work, home, and still helping those who need it. One of you said this isn’t a sprint, but a marathon. You are right. It’s going to be along long road to recovery for many of our neighbors. #cartereTstrong
