Amidst a frozen tundra of disappearing snow, a few overweight lions (fatpax) and jittery gazelles (steamer and second mile) gathered in harmony to celebrate the birth of simba aka (Big Mic) and enjoy an old fashioned f3carterican beat down.  Long before Garmin, Apple and Fit-bit watches became the trendy holiday gift amongst the 1%, F3Carterico had workouts designed to make men stronger and not just faster.

Upon my return from hibernation, I was shocked to discover that most boot camp workouts were covering greater than 3 miles.  Skinny legged peacocks with new gps watches would smile at me over a $4 cup of coffee each morning practically yanking themselves over another 3.2 miles covered at the boot camp workout dujour.

At first I was confused.  Now I will concede that I went to West Carteret.  As a result, math (Sorry Duck), nor any subject for that matter is my strong suit.

With that said…things just didn’t add up.  Let’s take a look at what a 3 mile boot camp workout looks like from an activity stand-point.

Let’s Assume you intro’d and disclaimed (1 minute), warmed-up (4 minutes) Ran 3 miles at a 9 minute pace (27 minutes) and Mary (6 minutes)…what time is left to do actual boot camp exercises?

The answer is 7 minutes.

SEVEN WHOLE MINUTES of STRENGTH TRAINING.

Seven minutes to get stronger??

At a bootcamp workout.

WTF?

So going forward when you hear the phrase fatpax or fatpax approved or fatpax certified please understand that we are not just sitting around ordering dominos and eating doritos and listening to nipple shot tell inappropriate stories (Although that may and does happen).  But Instead…. just understand that we as a merry band of fat asses are just trying to keep the damn mileage under 2.0 so we can AT LEAST get in 15 to 20 minutes of strength training at the BOOT CAMP workout.  With that said…let me tell you how our morning went….

Intro:

YHC did an extended intro to not only disclaim this a.m. but to also explain

the What (Fitness, Fellowship and Faith)

the How (Workouts are Free, Open to All, Outdoors, Participant Led, End in COT, Mumblechatter, Gatherings, Bible Studies, Charity etc etc)

AND most importantly the WHY of F3 (INVIGORATION OF MALE COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP).

It takes some brothers about 3 minutes, it takes other about 3 months, still others 3 years and some bless their hearts just never quite get it…. but the WHY of F3…the reason for F3….. is LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT.

We want to help men become better leaders because it will help their families, their careers, their churches, their communities and their professions.  We get better together so we can go out and do the big guy in the sky’s work and make Carterico a better place to live.  That is our WHY.  Let us never forget it.  If you truly want to help F3 and get F3 please know that at the end of the day its about helping the pax become better leaders.  That is why we take turns leading the workouts, that is why we have site q’s, that is why we have a board, that is why we have men lead bible study’s, that is why we have men lead community projects because our WHY is LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT.

That’s right newbies, in case you missed it, you have joined a leadership development club disguised as an early morning men’s workout group with a lot of mumblechatter and some incredible faith building opportunities.

6MOM:

We only had time for one exercise.  With steamer in the house I asked him to lead us in a 1 minute full range of motion round of Boss Tweed’s.  It was at this time….and I shit you not…that Pedro pulled into the parking lot and for exactly 45 seconds gave everything he had to those Boss Tweeds.  He then muttered something about Daylight Savings Time (its tuesday Pedro) and then with zero shame or hesitation announced he was ready for coffee.  Respect Respect Respect.

COT:

Prayers for the Diller family.  Good news for Katherine Parker.  Steamer took us out with an excellent prayer that made us focus on the gifts we have and the importance of staying present.

Kudos to Steamer and The Second Mile for joining the fatpax.  We hope you enjoyed the chatter and the opportunity to get stronger.

Total Distance covered was 1.75 miles according to Second Miles fancy Fitbit watch.  SMH.

As always it was an honor and a pleasure to lead.
