Seven men gathered in the gloom of Beaufort for the Man-O-War. Livermush was the official time keeper and he kindly issued the one minute warning.  The Welcome , Mission Statement and Disclosure soon followed, each delivered flawlessly.  YHC called for 5 burpees.  Mumblechat was present but mild. YHC told the PAX when finished that these 5 would be the only burpees we would do all morning. At the time YHC meant it.  But sometimes plans do change.  Off to the circle we moseyed, enjoying the calmness of the water and everyone seemed to agree that the morning was less humid than usual. Perfect conditions for a beat down.  We stopped at the circle and did some sun gods, hamstring stretches, downward facing dogs and a few other warm up exercises that escape my mind at the moment.

We moseyed back to Turner St. for the Thang:

YHC called for 3 exercises, single count and OYO.  The three were:  Merkiins, Squats and Side Straddle Hops.  We were to do 5 reps of each exercise then run/jog to the next intersection where we doubled the count and performed 10 reps of each exercise.  Run to the next intersection for a 20 count, etc. until we hit the last intersection and did an 80 count.   Being a fairly reasonable Q, YHC gave the PAX the option of doing 40 Merkins along with their 80 Squats and 80 SSH or they could be bad ass and do the 80 Merkins, 80 Squats and 80 SSH.  With no counts being called out loud, it was impossible to know who did how many Merkins but YHC quit at 40 and I did notice Bunyon and Graco doing Merkins after we were all done with the last set of SSHs.  Good work guys.  That was a lot of Merkins.

Next we moseyed over to Boss Tweed Marina where we found the usual “bricks”.  Each man got a brick and held it over head as we moseyed 25 or so yards down the sidewalk.  We then proceeded to perform 10 curls for the girls, 10 overhead tricep extensions, and 10 bench presses, all I/C.  We threw in a round of low slow flutters as well. After one more round of curls, triceps and bench presses we hustled back to the marina, deposited the bricks and started our routine over, beginning with 80 Merkins, 80 Squats and 80 SSHs. Again, the option was given to perform only 40 Merkins rather than 80. YHC took himself up on his own offer and did 40. Running short on time, We skipped the 20 rep set and finished the required 10 and 5 rep sets.

We ran back to the parking lot where YHC, after earlier promising no more, called on the PAX to dig deep and knock out 10 Burpees.  YHC thought this was a reasonable request since the count down skipped the 20 rep set. The PAX was not pleased, to say the least. But being good sports the reps were done (for the most part) and we finished up with a round of LSF, 20 count I/C.

Announcements included the Beaufort Road Race this Saturday and Sasquatch next weekend in G’ville.

There we no prayer requests and YHC took us out.

Great work today men.  We did lots of reps along with some moderate runs. Thanks to each of you for posting and It was especially nice to see Goober back in action.

It was a pleasure, as always, to lead.

SYITG.

Puddles out.
