Today was a special day for YHC, being my one year anniversary for attending F3. I still remember my first post. The AO was the Tale Setter and Dip Stick not Dipper was the Q. At the COT when it was time to name me there were several names thought of. Steamer was the one who said Shrimp Napoleon or Crabby Englishman and so it became Crabby over time. A nickname of my nickname. As no surprise to anyone involved in F3 I have had a transformative experience both physically and mentally as I explore the opportunities that have been presented to me. If you had asked me a year ago if I would participate in a forced march on the beach in the cold while carrying Mother F***ing heavy logs in a GoRuck or running up and down mountains in the BRR, I would have laughed and asked who are you kidding? This movement of men to better themselves has even encouraged myself to explore going to graduate school to continue to better myself. Both of my 2.0’s are active with F3 as well. I could not be more proud of them for the lessons they are learning from what we do. My oldest 2.0 being a junior in high school continues to make me proud between academics and athletics. My younger 2.0 only being in 5th grade is mainly motivated to post because of breakfast afterwards. I look forward to watching them both become better and compliment their lives with the learnings and experiences from F3. As any parent it is my wish that my 2.0’s have more opportunity and better choices than I did at their age, I believe F3 will help provide them with some of these opportunities to push them out of their comfort zones and grow. Enough of my banter and on to the workout…

Next YHC called for the introduction of the Big Boy Sit Up, Of course this would require a demonstration. While a partner holds your ankles, you preform a sit up. At the top of the sit up you stand up. I ask Rosie to hold my ankles and preform the sit up and attempt to stand with no success. So I attempt again hoping to use some momentum and again nothing. There was an immediate feeling of fear as I could not preform the exercise. I immediately called OMAHA expecting to be heckled by the pax with a “can’t do it, don’t Q it” theme. FAILURE was staring at me square in the face! In those seconds, I had a flashback to the Ruck where Cadre Heath and Cadre Daniel saying, If you fail at something, embrace it and own it, don’t shy away from it. As this was playing out in my mind the pax was attempting to preform the Big Boy Sit Up. I called OMAHA again and the next exercise is the WWI.

WWI X 20 SC

Mosey back to our field, YHC found a nice solid wall, part of the Off the Hook building for a BTTW for a silent 20 count

Now that our Escalator ride was over it was time to enter the Bearmuda Triangle…

Three trees were identified to the pax. Starting at tree number 1, 1 burpee oyo followed by a bear crawl to the second tree for 2 burpees oyo and bear crawl to the third tree for three burpees oyo and finally crawling back to the first tree.

Over to the parking lot, picking out a good spot for Jang without used condoms, needles or broken glass. There was a dumpster in close proximity but no foul odors. YHC called for a Hurricane Hoe Down, A flutter kick circuit that went like…

Hands in the air (Hallelujah) X 7 IC

Canoe X 7 IC

On your back X 7 IC

LBC X 7 IC

Rinse and repeat in declining ladder format to 1

Mosey back to the flag

The Pax lined up single file for an Indian run down Evans street toward 4th street, turning around at the intersection and headed back stopping at the flag. With a few minutes left YHC called for the pax to line up on the curb for sprints from one side of the street to the next and back. We laddered up to 4 rounds, down and back equaled one.

Hard Stop

Announcements- Dreadnought, Anchor B on Tuesday

Prayers- YHC took us out in prayer.

In my closing thoughts, Failure is not something to be afraid of, it needs to be embraced as part of the learning process. While it is uncomfortable, it is valuable and should be repeated.

“No human ever became interesting by not failing. The more you fail and recover and improve, the better you are as a person.” – Chris Hardwick
