After a refreshing break from the weather the Beaufort regulars met at the usual location on the west side of the famous Dockhouse. This being my first time at the helm I only hoped that I planned enough activities to keep us busy. All seemed well and good until the end when a drunken sailor still full of rum from the previous night joined us for a cool down. He was assigned the name Spicy Tuna but it is doubtful we will ever see him again or that he remembers seeing us.
Easy jog to the Maritime Museum for a warm up consisting of
side straddle hops
Abe Vigodas
the twist
cotton pickers
leg stretch
Warmup complete and off a few blocks for stage one.
box cutters x 10 then a full sprint for one block then 10 LBCs and finally karaoke back. After 5 sets it was clear that enough speedwork had been accomplished.
easy jog down to the cutting board (new deck on front street) for
merkins x20 derkins x15 and a crowd favorite, the dive bomber
Next set consisted of drill instructors, basically running in place with high knees then on command dropping down for 6 inches or on your face for planks or push ups. This is great because no one counts so you never know how long something is going to last or what is coming next.
Finally an Indian run back to the Dockhouse where we met Spicy Tuna for a cool down and witnessed someone who could hardly walk attempt to follow along with x’s and o’s.
Sorry for the late post, apparently F3 is a threat to national security because I cannot access it during my workday. I look forward to leading again and appreciate the support.
