YHC heard and felt something go “pop” in his calf during Dash8’s love fest at the Rolling Stone yesterday and totally planned on fartsacking this morning to recover.  Just as YHC started to enjoy the idea of sleeping in, Pillbox was nice enough to remind me that I was on the Q for the wrapper. What a guy.  Not wanting to let my brothers down, YHC planned a low mileage, totally snookie approved workout and proceeded to tell snookie about it in hopes of enticing him to post (it didn’t work).

Soon after YHC’s arrival, men started to materialize out of the gloom.  It was great to see Avenatti make the trip from Jacksonville, Hacksaw turn an SC into a post, Huckabee getting back in the saddle on a consistent basis and Ponch continue his herculean posting streak.  After fistbumps, countdown, listening to a lot of whining about coupons, and a flawless mission statement, we embarked on a non-rolling, totally stationary, side straddle hop free WARMARAMA. Purplerain requested some stretching to start off so we completed:

  • Right over left/left over right
  • Down dog/pedals/cobra
  • Moroccan Night Clubs IC x 10
  • Hairy Rockettes IC x 10
  • Imperial Walkers IC x 10
  • Bat Wings (Sun Gods fed/rev IC X 10, Seal Claps IC X 10, Overhead Claps IC x 10, Air Press IC x 30)

Pax were then instructed to partner up and grab one kettlebell or dumbell per group and we sauntered (can’t call it a mosey b/c YHC was pretty slow) out to the soccer field for the THANG.  Pax lined up on the goal line facing the other goal. P1 would perform a kettle bell exercise while P2 did a body weight exercise – then flapjack and repeat for 3 sets stacking 5, 10 and 15 reps.  We would then mosey to the far goal line and start another set of exercises.  We completed:

  • Stop 1 – Kettle Bell Swing/Mericans
  • Stop 2 – Sumo Squat/Monkey Humpers
  • Stop 3 – Upright Rows/LBC’s
  • Stop 4 – Put the groceries on the shelf (left foot)/Freddie Mercs
  • Stop 5 – Put the groceries on the shelf (right foot)/Freddie Mercs
  • Stop 6 – Right hand only shoulder press/Peter Parkers
  • (Editor’s Note: it was on the mosey down the field between right hand and left hand presses that Purplerain shared with us why his right arm was stronger than his left and gave YHC the title of this back blast)
  • Stop 7 – Left hand only shoulder press/Peter Parkers
  • Stop 8 – Curls/Squats
  • Stop 9 – Skull Crushers/WWI’s

With just a few minutes left we headed back to the flag for a quick round of Superman’s in honor of our missing brother Couch Potato to a hard stop.

Necessity being the mother of invention, today’s plan was an attempt to keep YHC from exacerbating an injury, to introduce a “tinkerbells” style bootcamp to the Western Pax, and to make sure everyone got a good workout in.  YHC believes we accomplished all three and had a fun time together to boot.  It was a great morning as always at the Wrapper.

Announcements: Linus on the Q at Field of Dingbatters tomorrow.  Meet at the non-existent ice machine.  Flo Run 5k tomorrow in MHC put together by Crabby Englishmen’s 2.0 – proceeds to hurricane victims. Prayer requests for Purplerain’s M and the hurricane victims.  YHC took us out in prayer.

Double D, thanks for the keys.  Mullet Wrapper is a great AO and we all appreciate your leadership in growing this thing over the past year. Good luck to Buttoncap as he takes the reigns in the near future.  We all know he will build on that great foundation.  Thanks to Sparkles, Princess, Linus and anyone else who brought bells to make this morning possible.  As always, it is a pleasure and an honor to be among you men in the gloom.
