Run Run Rudolph

It was another glorious morning in Carterico! As YHC crossed the EI bridge headed to the AO, he passed Couch potato and Laettner getting in an EC bridge run before the workout. I arrived at the AO and posted the shovel flag and waited for the pax to arrive. With a minute or two to spare, the bridge runners came strolling in the corner of the parking lot. No other pax arrived, so the pregame formalities were skipped and we had a 5:30 HS. As we headed out YHC informed the pax that they were free to continue on when I reached the point where I needed to slow down for some recovery, but they said they would be hanging with me today. While that was encouraging to hear, it also meant no slacking off. Guess I’m getting better whether I like it or not. We headed down Reed Dr for a change of scenery, but quickly shifted back to the bike path due to increased traffic on Reed Dr due to the road construction. Shortly thereafter, two shadowy figures overtook us from the gloom. Macgregor and Backsplash had rolled in late and had pushed their pace to pass us old guys. It’s likely that they were going normal speed and I’m just that slow, but either way, they passed us. We continued on until time to make the turn. On the way back we came across Plebe as he was trying to catch up to his two 2.0’s. He continued heading out to meet them as they were not far behind us. We all pushed on back to the flag. Laettner circled back to catch Plebe, Macgregor, and Backsplash. 6:15 HS. We huddled up and announcements and prayer requests were given. Backsplash, after some encouraging words from Laettner, led us out in prayer.

Thanks to Laettner and Couch Potato for pushing YHC to be better. We ran about 3.6 miles with only about a 1-2 minute recovery walk when we made the turn. By far the most distance I’ve covered with the least amount of recovery. I can assure you it wouldn’t have happened if I had been alone.
