YHC awoke at 0430 to the sound of thunder and heavy rain…what a surprise. The M and I are thinking of moving to Portland or Seattle where we can see the sun every now and again. Undaunted (ok I was daunted but got out of the rack anyway) YHC dressed and headed to the AO to check the conditions. During the shortened standard YHC wondered if any PAX would show given the lovely weather. Should have know that Dash 8 would be there waiting with more respect brothers hot on his tail. At hard start, 6 strong and brave souls had joined YHC including Ricardo who had just returned from vacation ready to roll – and THE second mile caught up before we had a chance to start the THANG to bring our number to an even 8.
Mission statement and disclaimer given, we were off for a short mosey just inside the gate to the first stop and, a la Puddles, 5 burpees OYO. Mosey to the corner of Brandywine Blvd and Lord Granville and our second stop for WARMORAMA:
SSH IC x 20, Cotton Pickers IC x 15, Imperial Walkers IC x 20, Sun gods fwd & back IC x 10 each way
YHC then gave the PAX the rundown on this morning’s work. Short version – run in circles and stop for somewhat painful exercises. Long version – Partner up – at each stop along the way P1 would run the designated route while P2 performed a series of 4 exercises in 5, 10, 15 and 20 repetitions over and over until P1 returned. Switch & Repeato.
First stop was 5 merkins, 10 plank jacks, 15 mountain climbers, 20 air presses and repeato until your partner returns. The run was from the corner of Brandywine Blvd & Lord Granville to the front gate and back. Switch.
Second stop was in Ceadarwood Village. 5 WWI’s, 10 LBCs, 15 Freddy Mercs, 20 air presses and repeato until partner ran the Cedarwood Village loop. Switch
Third stop was the entrance to the cart path on #4. 5 squats, 10 lunges, 15 monkey humpers, 20 air presses and repeato until parter runs to the green and back. Switch
Fourth stop was at the corner of Lord Granville and Cottage Row. (Bat Wings) 5 air press, 10 sun god, 15 overhead claps, 10 count and repeato until partner returns from the Cottage/Cannery Row loop. Switch
On the way to the fifth and final stop a sad clown passed us in a big pick up truck. True to our nature, we all had ideas of EH’ing but the SC would have none of it. He did acknowledge us with some kind of gesture which was hard to see in the gloom. Someone suggested it might be a certain finger in the “middle” of his hand, another PAX suggested he was eating a peanut (??), but I think Ron Burgundy had it right when he suggested, “I think he was looking at a booger he just picked. You know the kind when you pull it out and look at it because you can’t believe something that big and green just came out of your nose. Not that I have ever done that, but, well you know.” Someone else suggested that I had just been given a title for my back blast. Thanks Ron Burgundy, it seems you always make my back blast titles somehow or another.
Fifth stop was just behind the Hwy 24 gate. 5 merkins, 10 plank jacks, 15 mountain climbers, 20 air press and repeato while partner runs to the entrance sign and back. Switch.
Getting close on time we circled up for dealer’s choice Mary. Dash 8 gave us LBC’s, Cooter – American Hammers, Ricardo finished us off with dying cockroaches to a hard stop. Extra credit 20 steps or so back to the flag. Just under 2.5 miles
Announcements – Ennis on his VQ tomorrow at the Dingbatter – come out and support him! Prayer requests: Focker plans to propose to YHC’s 2.0 this weekend – please pray that the moment is meaningful and that their union is blessed. Don’t say anything to Focker yet because my 2.0 doesn’t know its happening this weekend!
Dash 8 took us out in prayer.
Thank you Squid for trusting me with the keys to the Hashmark. Thank you PAX for turning up and working hard in the crappy weather – especially Ricardo for pushing through the remnants of mai tai’s and hula dancers. As always it was a pleasure and an honor to lead.
