It was a brisk chilly morning ITG. As I stepped outside to embrace the atmospheric conditions two things happened simultaneously, My breath was taken away and my scrotum retreated to find warmth. I believe the PC phrase is shrinkage. YHC was pleased to see several cars in the parking lot of the college as I rolled up on the AO. After planting the flag Rosie and Misty arrived from their Standard/ Warm up. I believe they logged 2 miles each. From the opposite direction a strangely familiar set of headlights appeared, low and behold Pocahontas was able to fight off the Fartsack Monster and Post! The route was shared with the new comers, Fry Daddy and Newman. It was Hard Start time, Mission statement and disclaimer given, a call to set all watches or other F3 approved timing devices and we were off toward the highest elevation in Morehead- the bridge. As we passed thru the treacherously dark visitors center, I wondered where Poca was with his shoe lights to show the way? As we entered Evans Street Misty and Rosie hit their stride with Fry Daddy hot on their hills as they broke away from the pax. Over the bridge we went, some of the pax going as far as the circle. Time for the return trip. I am always amazed at the engineering marvel of our bridge, as you head South toward the beach you barely feel a thing. As you head North back to Morehead there was a stiff 10 – 15 mph breeze right in your face. It was in this breeze that I heard the words spoken by BRR coach Misty when it came to the final leg of the BRR. “The faster you run, the faster it’s over”. Back to the shelter of Evans Street for the return path home back to the college.
