Two pax from the west fought the warm fart sack and geared up for a nice crisp morning run. YHC spun into the parking lot with less than 30 seconds until a hard start. Who needs stretching anyway? Purple rain led the pace as YHC attempted to keep the FND (friendly new dog), Willow, on a slack leash. I’m not sure if it was the cold or her desire to be upfront, but she seem to forget everything I taught her. Anyway, with just the two of us, it was another opportunity for some good second F. As we ran the bike path down Highway 58, we discussed many things that were heavy on our minds. We made it back for the hard stop and a quick prayer, then off to the races of daily life.
No mission statement, disclaimer, or announcements were made this morning, because YHC figured that purple rain had heard it before, and Willow didn’t give a damn. Can you call it a circle of trust or a ball of man with only two people? Either way, thank you purple rain for making sure that YHC was not running solo this morning, and thank you Maytag for another opportunity to head up the green mile.
Although you always want more guys to post, sometimes a crowd of two provides the best second F. Over the years, I’ve had some great conversations with purple rain, whether it’s running in 30° at 5:30 in the morning, sitting around a campfire in the mountains at midnight, or a late afternoon in a beach chair with the M’s and our feet in the water. Those times are invaluable for supporting each other, and provide for some great memories.
I look forward to many more years of some good second F with all my F3 brothers!
