Carterico is a clannish land.  Most of the early settlers that established our cherished treasure of a home were the descendants of the 2nd and 3rd sons of English aristocrats that wanted some cash crops from the Virginia colonies.  YHC’s story is from a man named Robert, the 2nd son of Sir John Lawrence, Baron of Chelsea.  His old man put him on a ship and sailed him westward across the ocean blue.  It’s not known if he felt pride in his assignment or contempt that big brother John got all that Anglican land and titles.  What he didn’t know was that his great grandson named John as well, would become the first Carterican Lawrence man. If he would have only seen the landscape that the Pax saw today, he may have told his noble dad to shove those castles right up his six.  YHC learned today that those men from the town that is “Delightfully Different” feel a divide from those from “town”.  Henceforth, they titled Radio Island the DMZ.  This seems appropriate in a county where if you call someone from Bettie an Otwegian, you may be tarred and feathered.  Instead of the 160 Mile divide established 27 July 1953, our DMZ divides east and west not North and south.  15 men decided to get their legs moving across this neutral zone and into our county seat so we could try out that new bridge.  When asked how far were we running, Deebo said he didn’t have a watch but googled some spots and figured it to be around 4 or 5.  As an aside, his description of the course would have been more like 11ish miles.  Anyway we were off and making up as we ran.

The Thang:

Suitcase and Duck ran 3.5ish miles over the bridge and back and brought the runners in at the end.  Flip et al ran 4 which turned around at the Fudge Factory.  Ironically, he claims a turd pain struck him there thus creating his 4 Mile route.  The rest ran to the west end of front street and back over the Grayden Paul bridge, down Piver’s Island, and back to the start for a 5 miler.  We were treated by Deebo to coffee and doughnuts at the Boat Ramp parking lot and it was much appreciated.  YHC has the keys once more to the Hero Patriot tomorrow and it should be a good one.  Until then, SYITG.
