YHC awoke to the pitter patter of rain, the stiff howl of wind and the thought that maybe no one would show up to the Prometheus ruck and he may just be able to get back Home in time for a few more minutes of shut eye. No such luck. After sitting in the Bojangles parking lot with no other f3 vehicles visible, the silent five minute warning was given. 3 minutes to go and here comes ol reliable….laettner. No matter the weather, the time of day or the circumstances, laettner always shows up and always makes you feel better for having earned his company. We both got out of our cars, took the deep “shoot it’s cold,” breath and rolled out on time.
Yhc had never walked the EI bridge so that was our goal today. He was glad Santa clause had prepared laettner with plenty of lights and reflectors as to lessen the danger of the dark depths of the B. Cameron Langston bridge. The rain was steady, the wind was constant but the cold became an afterthought as we cruised over the bridge. Out of nowhere a truck pulls up, window rolls down and a guy asked, “hey you guys need a ride?” To which we replied “naw man, we are working out.” Yhc recognized the guy as an acquaintance exchanged pleasantries (silently vowing to eh him into submission later) and rolled on. Reaching the south side of the bridge we did 50 Erkins and 50 dips turned around and back tracked. The wind picked up here and yhc and his faithful partner struggled a bit but persevered. Reaching Bojangles with five minutes to spare we spent that chatting about a special prayer request yhc had. We finished with the ball of Man and a prayer by laettner. Headed into Bojangles for some bo Berry biscuits on yhc as promised in the pre blast

I’m not much of a talker. I’m a better public speaker than one on one and do my best communicating with the written word. That being said, laettner brings my weakness out, especially when it’s just us two. We talk and talk about lots of nothing. At the same time it can get deep without even knowing we are going there. I know about his wife without having even met her, he knows all about my family having never met them. Religion, sports, money, kids, extended family everything is on the table that I usually reserve for no one. I appreciate him and what he does for f3 carterico and value our time together, even when it’s 36 degrees, blowing rain and miserable. Rucking isn’t for everyone, and that’s ok bc the world needs softhanded gazelles too. Thanks for showing up laettner, it’s always an honor To be in your company.
