Misty had contacted YHC and suggested a change of pace for the Stampede, gear it more toward training for the upcoming races and events that many pax are HC’d for in the next few months. After some research, YHC decided upon some speed work and the best AO would be the track at WCHS. YHC posted the preblast and got my workout game plan in order. In the gloom on this glorious morning with temperatures in the 50’s, even Duckbutter was wearing shorts. As YHC entered the parking lot, I noticed approx. 20 cars parked in the lot and wondered what was going on. It turns out that on Friday mornings this is an AO for FIA. The Stampede pax was arriving and gathering a decent distance from the FIA pax in the parking lot, whose workout had started a good 15 minutes before we arrived. As the pax was gathering a one minute warning was given. Mumble chatter was at an all time high as hard start began. YHC began reciting the mission statement and disclaimer this did not phase the mumble chatter at all. Knowing that if I did not control the pax they would control YHC and sabotage my Q, I had to get the workout going quickly. YHC called for a mosey to the track. Once on the track the Warm-a-rama went like this:
Two lap mosey
The pax circled up and we did High Knees for 30 seconds
Karaoke’s (side run) 100 meters
Karaoke’s -100 meters back to the start line
Lunges- 100 meters
Lunges- 100 meters back to the start line
With the pax warmed up,on to the Thang…
YHC announced the workout plan to the pax, run the distance called by the Q followed by recovery time. First on our agenda 4 X 400meters.
One lap (400 meters) was completed and the pax was given a two minute recovery.
another lap completed and YHC reduced the recovery time by 15 seconds.
Two more laps were completed with reduced recovery time between each.
YHC called 300 meters (3/4 Lap) for the next evolution. We completed 3 X 300 with recovery time between laps.
Then we did 3 X 200 meters (1/2 lap)
Finally 3 X 100 meters
With only a few minutes left we moseyed back to the flag for some Mary.
With time for one exercise before hard stop and lots of the earlier mumble chatter about Misty’s Wiper Merkins from the day before and Steamer’s interpretation of these Merkins. There was a higher calling that this was the exercise to be.
5 X SC Wiper Merkins
